Are you looking for the perfect location to host your next event? The City of Oakland offers a range of indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate events of all sizes and types.

Facilities Available for Rent

Anyone over 21 years old can rent a facility. Once you select a location, complete our rental application, credit card authorization form and chaperone agreement. Please note that applications must be submitted at least 30 days before your event.

Application Process

Step 1.Step 1: Select a Facility

The City of Oakland offers a range of spaces to accommodate events of all sizes and types. Gymnasiums for sports games, indoor multi-purpose rooms with kitchens for birthday parties, outdoor fields for picnics and more. Tour our facilities to find the best location for your event.

Step 2.Step 2: Schedule a Visit (optional)

While optional, visiting the facilities can be a helpful step in deciding if the venue is the right fit for you. Contact us at (510) 238-3420 or cru@oaklandca.gov to schedule a visit.

Step 3.Step 3: Check Facility Availability

Choose your facility and check availability before submitting your request to ensure the facility is open on your desired date and time. Please note that applying does not guarantee your reservation. Once you apply, a staff member will reach out to help secure your preferred date and time.

Step 4.Step 4: Gather Information

Be prepared to share key information about your event, including the number of attendees, whether alcohol will be served, and any equipment needs like sound systems. Please note that outdoor event pricing is based on the expected number of attendees.

Additional costs or permits may apply. For example, a fee is required if your event includes open flames, such as a charcoal barbecue or candles. Depending on your event needs—like sound equipment, alcohol service, or ticket sales—you may need specific permits, which must be completed separately. A representative will provide detailed information about the necessary permits.

Step 5.Step 5: Complete Your Application

Once you have picked a location, gathered all the required information and completed the rental application, a representative will email you within 48 hours. They will let you know rental availability, cost and additional permits required.
