Welcome to the City of Oakland's Municipal Election page. This is your resource for accessing information on City of Oakland voting, candidates, ballot measures as well as other election-related services for the City of Oakland.

Please note - Oakland Unified School District Ballot Measures are filed directly with the Alameda County Registrar of Voters; visit the Registrar's website at Official Election Site of Alameda County for information on OUSD Ballot Measures. Per Ordinance 13802, the City Clerk's Office will extend normal office hours on the last day of nomination period to complete processing of candidates who arrive at the Clerk's Office by 5PM.

The next City of Oakland Election is Tuesday, April 15, 2025

All registered voters will be sent a ballot in the mail.

Not registered to vote? No problem! Eligible California voters can complete the Same Day Voter Registration process. Learn more about Same Day Voter Registration.

There are 3 ways to vote:

  1. Mail your ballot. Must be postmarked on or before 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5. No postage required.
  2. Drop your completed ballot in a 24-hour ballot drop box. Find a Ballot Drop Box near you.
  3. In person.

There are 26 locations in Oakland where you can drop off your ballot or vote early.
