Safety Element, Adopted 2004
The Safety Element is a required chapter of the General Plan and is a policy framework to guide the public decision-making process on addressing natural and human-caused hazards.
Oakland's Safety Element was first adopted in 2004. In 2021, the City adopted the 2021-2026 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) as Appendix F of the Safety Element.
