Seniors and Adults with Disabilities

The City provides programming that support independence, safety, health, and active living for seniors. We work with community partners to deliver services that include care management, jobs, training, volunteering, recreation and transportation assistance.

Mayor's Commission on Aging

Aging and Adult Services collaboratively with the Mayor's Commission on Aging to address issues that matter to older adults, persons with disabilities and family caregivers.

Stretch & Flex on KTOP- TV10

Stay active while at home with Stretch & Flex with Tricia. This class focuses on exercises to strengthen the body and support better movement function and balance. Stretching and centering breathwork practice is also included to find strength and balance in the mind. This class is suitable for all bodies and abilities.

This class is also offered in-person at the North Oakland and Downtown Oakland Senior Centers and is free to the membership. Become a member today for $12/year!

Membership

Membership is $12 a year - Such a Deal!

If you are 55+, drop-in to your local Senior Center between 9a-2:30p to complete a membership form and provide your membership fee of $12/year. If you would like a tour of the Center or a personalized introduction, call your local Senior Center to set up an appointment. After providing payment, you will receive your key tag and access to MyActiveCenter (MAC), an optional online portal to register for classes. Payment options include: check, money order or cash, we are unable to take cards at this time. Please note, due to Center size, if you are interested in joining the Downtown Oakland Senior Center, appointments are required.

Become an Advisory Council Member

We are looking for people to share their innovative ideas and skills in finance, event planning, health care, and more, with the senior community.

  • Would you like to have a voice to advise about center programming;
  • Can you attend the monthly Council meetings; and
  • Are able to volunteer at least ten (10) hours per month.
