About the Commission
In November 2014, the Oakland electorate approved a ballot measure creating an independent Redistricting Commission that will re-draw the boundary lines for City Council and Oakland Unified School Board of Directors districts following the U.S. Census.
On August 27, 2020, all members of the Redistricting Commission were announced. The Commission is responsible for approving the final boundary lines no later than December 31, 2021.
Commissioners meet on the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 5:00 pm. Visit this page to view all meetings.

Oakland Redistricting Commissioners
The Oakland Redistricting Commission has 15-members, 13-voting members and two-alternate members, and all of the existing districts are represented. Commissioners were selected by a three-member screening panel and began meeting in October 2020.

Rules of Procedure
The Redistricting Commission adopted its Rules of Procedure on November 12, 2020 (Resolution No. 20-001). The Commission adopted an amendment to its Rules of Procedure on March 10, 2021 (Resolution No. 21-001).
